Healthier..... Weightier.....

Delicious food that made me weightier
Officially, that mysterious night fever that I have been having is gone. No more waking up like House (the TV series character) checking my temperature wondering why am I sweating while the air condition is on at full blast.

I never really went to a doctor except getting advice from my brother who is 400km away and getting his advice on what to take to get my temperature back to normal. He is a doctor (better know as general practitioner in Malaysia) in Johor Bharu and I rarely get my medicine anywhere else other than him as he dispense quite a lot of them to my parents during his visit to their house. I consider my brother my private medical adviser (which my wife commented very much like Eli Stone and his brother) and as a man who rarely want to go and see a doctor, the arrangement is perfect.

Need to start jogging again

Now that I am cured from whatever malady that I had suffered for nearly a month, I now can say to my wife "See....it work, what...". As if that would settle the argument the next time it happens.

But now, another matter crops up. I managed to get rid of quite a lot of my weight when I was sick. My personal assistant even commented after she came back from a 4-days holiday that she can see how much weight I lost from my trousers being loose. I actually love the feeling.

...and eat as I like only during festive seasons

Now, with no fever and getting my appetite back (which I am very thankful), gaining weight is the problem that I have to face again. Just the normal problem I have been facing all my life.

Better run around the neighbourhood again every morning....

How to heal oneself...

I was down with a mysterious something (which I refuse to label as a malady/disease as it was never determined) and I was quite down emotionally too as I had just returned from a short pilgrimage to Mekah. A pilgrimage to Mekah usually makes one stronger emotionally and physically. Meaning that, you will feel regenerated, closer to Allah and ready to take on the world.

However, as most people know, the weather and the environment in the middle east is one of the toughest and hottest environment in the planet. It is not a place of comfort for one who has been living in the part of the world where there are rain any other day and water is in abundance. So, it took it toll for me to be there while performing my umrah, in the attire that is required by Islam, which are two pieces of clothes to cover the whole body.

There's a reason why it's called a desert

It was just 2 pieces of white clothes

Just look at all those pilgrims who never stops making their rounds

The heat was what I blame but maybe there are other spiritual factor. Basically, this mini pilgrimage was never meant to be easy. It was meant to be a test and boy, was I tested. I was tested with the weather and I was also tested with the chance of doing business in Mekah. It may seem like a good place to do business but when it came during you trying to concentrate on doing something spiritually, it was not the best place for it.

So, after suffering from night fever (not the Saturday kind) which my wife and even colleagues could see happening to me as we had a few events and appointments which we had to attend to after 8pm, I decided to take myself to an island vacation.

I went to the island favoured and well-known by a lot of foreigners as one of the beautiful island in the world called Pangkor Laut. It was supposed to be an expensive affair but as I had always use the facilities offered by the company which operates that island, I got a good deal. It was a full-board vacation where you only have to only worry about what to wear (or not wear). Maybe these pictures can help you imagine the tranquility....

It was the perfect anecdote.

Rested and well-fed (the food are always superb there), I seem to have recovered now from whatever it was I was suffering.

Ready to face the world....

OUT OF ORDER

I am currently in a condition which I hate to experience again.

I am having night fever and the thing about it is, I waited for nearly a week (a normal Standard Operating Procedure for me when I am sick) and finally on Monday, I went to have my blood tested.

Why I straight away ask for a blood test is due to the area where I live which is notorious for it's high dengue fever sufferer and even death.

So, before I even saw the doctor in the nearest hospital to my house (chosen as I have a strong feeling I may be warded), I straight away ask for the blood test.

Thankfully, there is nothing wrong with me.

Except for the fever and an unexceptional WBC count, there is nothing wrong with me. Bloodwise that is. And I was also pronounced healthy on the checks on the normal throat and chest test.

It is a mystery, except for the telling WBC. WBC is actually White Blood Count, which is the warrior in our blood which fights bacteria or virus which may be attacking one part of my body. More by 0.8 percent than the highest 'Normal' count.

So, am still feverish but still going to work. As for social media event, am a bit selective in making my appearance. Did one on Sunday night and no one is the wiser. As it involves eating, it was easy.

Not sure yet what is this 'mystery' illness and am on antibiotic medication now. If that doesn't work, I was warn of being warded.

Which is another new experience altogether.

But, I am really feeling my age now. And thankful for having a caring life partner.
